Our Story

The History of New Hope

The Beginning

New Hope was founded in 1980 with just 38 people.

Ralph Diehl served as Interim Senior Pastor until January 11, 1981, when he was unanimously selected as permanent Senior Pastor.

Since that time, Pastor Diehl has continued to pastor New Hope through his steady leadership.

In 1996, New Hope built a new facility at its current Waterloo location, and five years later the building was expanded to include a much larger office complex, a large multipurpose room, and nine additional classrooms.

New Hope is excited to multiply their ministry into a second location sometime in 2023 with the expansion into the South Auburn Location housed in the facility previously known as Calvary Chapel of Auburn and Heritage Community Church. The South Auburn Location will be a second location of New Hope Christian Center with kids ministry, vibrant worship, and amazing teaching -- just like the Waterloo Location.

New Hope is a multigenerational movement of Christians dedicated to making disciples who make make disciples. We do this through our mission of helping lost people get found, found people get free, and free people empowered to do whatever it is God has called them to do. We share life together through small groups and Bible studies. With dynamic worship we connect with God in our Weekend Worship Services. We impact our world through local outreach and global mission.
